Abstract
This chapter offers practical advice for incorporating Epicureanism into daily living. Epicurus did not consider his philosophy an academic exercise—he intended it to be lived. The key to living as an Epicurean is a clear-eyed assessment of our desires and priorities. We each have our own dispositional strengths and weaknesses, so some of the labour of applying Epicureanism to our lives requires self-reflection and practice. Epicurus provides some general tips on evaluating our desires, re-orienting our priorities, and focusing our attention on what matters for stable happiness. Sometimes we need to change our mind, sometimes we need to change our environment, and sometimes we need to study the world.
